Course Description:

 

This course includes a study and analysis of the managerial, financial, marketing, legal, and service delivery phases of Optometric practice as a medical practice, and how to take environmental and social considerations into account in the decision-making process. This will, eventually, enable students to manage the practice as an enterprise capable to achieve the necessary revenues that guarantee the delivery of the highest level of quality eye care for the Palestinian people.

Course Objectives: That each student will...

  1. Understand the management functions of planning, organizing, leading and controlling and their role in integrating the organization’s resources to achieve success.
  2. Gain a basic understanding of management, its essential functions and contemporary concerns.
  3. Effectively apply managerial principles through analyzing typical management "situations" emphasizing Optometry as a field of business management presented in class and in the text.
  4. Enhancing students abilities in the business field of Optometry.
  5. Enhancing students abilities about how to approach Optometry as an enterprise at all related levels, managerial, financial, personnel, marketing, procurement, and customer service.
  6. Demonstrate knowledge of course content through class participation and written test performance.
