Course Description:

This course includes a study and analysis of the basic concepts in business administration, management functions i.e. planning, organizing, leading, and controlling as well as organizational functions i.e. financing, marketing, HRM…, introducing students with contemporary issues and concepts related to modern business management such as TQM, Learning Organization, Competitive Advantage, Systems Thinking, Global Management, Strategic Management, Contingency Approaches to Leadership, Operations Management, and Managing Innovation and Change…

Course Objectives: That each student will...

  1. Understand the management functions of planning, organizing, leading and controlling and their role in integrating the organization’s resources to achieve success.
  2. Gain a basic understanding of management, its historical roots, essential functions and contemporary concerns.
  3. Effectively apply managerial principles through analyzing typical management "situations" presented in class and in the text.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of course content through class participation and written test performance.

 Methods of Teaching and Learning

These will consist of textbook readings, case studies, active discussions, quick and short presentations, practice quizzes, midterm and final examinations.

Course Requirements

  • Regular attendance is highly required.

 

  • Classroom participation and presentation is highly recommended.

 

  • Personal improvements, as long as we proceed, is needed.

 

  • Assignment 1: analysis and contribution on management related cotemporary issues:
    In this assignment, students present an essayon management. Each student will be given approx. 5 minutes  to present his intensive review, understanding, and conclusion of an additional subject on management. Materials ( or Readings) to be given by the instructor.

 

 

  • Assignment 2: Case Study and Solution:
    This assignment helps students to develop their abilities in dealing with different real situations. Students are expected to study the assigned cases methodologically and to submit a written report on these cases as well.
