Course Description
This course discusses biological activity at the level of the cell, including cell structure, chemical constituents, architecture, material exchange with the environment, the role of the cell membrane, major energy generating biochemical pathways, cellular respiration, control of cellular activities and basic concepts in genetics.  In addition, this course discusses the anatomy and physiology for a number of systems in the human body such as digestive, nervous, reproductive, motor, and endocrine systems.

 

Prerequisites:Nothing

 Required Text: Biology 7th Edition, Neil A. Campbell, Jane B. Reece, Benjamin (2004).

Exams and Grades

  • Course grades are based on the following:

 

First hour exam

25%

Second hour exam 

25%

Final Exam - cumulative exam

50%

 Lecture Exams: The two-semester lecture exams and the final exam will cover notes given in class and pertinent information from the textbook. The examinations will consist mainly of multiple choice questions, with additional short answer questions, definitions, as well as matching.
