Abstract:

This study deals with attitudes of Palestinians ex-prisoners toward services provided by Palestinian institutions. This topic is central due to large number of ex-prisoners who were released in recent years, and to high percentage of Palestinians who were imprisoned since 1967. Conditions under which prisoners live starting with the moment of capture until their final release including relevant international conventions and agreements concerning prisoners. For this research a random sample of ex-prisoners size of 500 were selected among of 9974 ex-prisoners released in the period between 2002-2012 by the Palestinian Ministry of Prisoner's Affairs. Thus, a quantitative analytical approach has been used to analyze data collected by a designed questionnaire. For analysis the SPSS package was utilized. Among the main findings of this research: A) The contribution the Palestinian institutions in relieving the released prisoners in main domains such social, psychological, economic, health, educational, and even professional training domains are weak even insufficient. B) Pain are deep and wide spread and no significant differences were found among those ex-prisoners. Thus, we recommend that: a) Efforts to make improvement of many domains especially social and psychological domains at many levels must be urgently undertaken. B) data basis of ex-prisoners must be updated in order to design relevant programs and strategies to relieve the life of ex-prisoners after years even decades of suffering in Israeli prisons.
