Interests: 
  • Wide interests in computing, with programming knowledge in Matlab, and FORTRAN. Good knowledge of P.C's. and their associated packages. Good ability in using the Internet and the electronic e-mail. Other interests include reading, especially books, magazines and watching TV programs including comedy and documentary programs.
  • Ability to organise, lead and deals tactfully with people of different thinking ability , the ability to write for support from industry and public funding bodies. Also the ability to referee technical proposal and manage their programs.
  • Ability to organise and deliver training and workshop programs in the Hazardous Waste Management and Solid Waste management areas, Safety Engineering and more concentration of chemical safety as accident investigation.
  • Ability to lead team in areas related to strategic planning of solid waste, hazardous waste and medical waste management areas.

About me: 
During the last 10 years, I was involved in several projects related to Emulsification of silicone oil in water in agitated tanks and high shear devices, Hazardous solid waste management, medical waste management, environmental impact assessment, mixing in the pharmaceutical industry and its related environmental impact. In addition to these, I supervised and being an internal and external examiner for more than 14 M.Sc students, eight of them are in the safety related areas Additionally, I was involved in several consultation projects in emulsification of silicone oil, the Hazardous, medical and household solid waste management and Environmental impact assessment. Since 2008 I am the coordinator of the University general safety committee. I am responsible of approving the safety rules inside the University labs and organize safety workshops for university labs’ technicians and outside university institutions. In addition, I developed accidents investigation report, which is used in all university labs. During my enrolment in the editorial board of Process Safety and Environmental protection Journal, I do read papers submitted to the Journal in my area of specialty before choosing referees for the paper.   • UMIST Chem. Eng. award. A six weeks award to carry out a short feasibility study on “Zelolization of Active Carbons from olive-pip waste to produce high value products”, July-August 2002.
  • Winner of the St Andrews Prize 2000, “Preparation, Enhancement, and Utilization of Activated Charcoal from Solid Olive Waste in Palestine”. The proposal won the prize out of 150 proposals submitted to the competition. The prize is share with Prof. Hikmat Hilal.
  • Award to attend the Post Graduate School on new materials organized by the Italian National Research Institute. One week in October 1999.
  • A British Council Grant- in -Aid to visit UMIST as part of the British Council Higher Education Links Program (one month 1997 and one month in 1998).
  • A scholarship from OCTEL for the tuition fees and living expenses for two years., 1990-92
