Course Contents (description) |
The role of farm animals in providing food and other products to the human being. Animal products (milk, meat, wool, eggs and leathers). Basic terminology common to animal science. Common breeds of farm animals, the basic scientific principles of feeding, reproduction, breeding an management of farm animals |

Course Objectives |
1.To introduce students to biological animal sciences 2. To identify the Animal industries, Beef and Dairy Cattle, Sheep and goats, poultry and Rabbit. |

Intended learning Outcomes and Competences
|
At the end of this course students should be able to; 1. Understand the principles of animal production regarding the fields of breeding, nutrition and management. 2. Gain preliminary competences in animal production. 3. Gain simple understanding about reproductive physiology in farm animals and birds. 4. Understand the physiology of digestion in ruminants and birds. 5. Understand the nutritive requirements of farm animals. 6. Identify breeds of farm animals and their type of production |
