Teaching Occupational Stress Among Elementary School Teachers at Nablus in Palestine

Preferred Abstract (Original): 

The purpose of this study was to identify the level of occupational  stress ‎among elementary school teachers and to determine the effect of demographic ‎variables on perception of teachers stress. The sample consisted of (121) ‎elementary school teachers, selected randomly from the elementary schools ‎teachers. To collect the data a questionnaire of occupational stress was ‎constructed, validated, and applied to the sample. The result of the study ‎revealed that the overall mean of teacher’s occupational stress was  .This could ‎mean that the majority of the elementary school teachers are suffering from ‎occupational stress. The study showed also that there is a significant mean ‎difference on stress perception due to sex, which means that female teachers are ‎suffering more than males, but other demographic variables were not ‎significant, and the interaction between sex and other demographic variables ‎were not significant. Also, the study points out the teachers’ occupational stress ‎which includes: school principles, administrations and behaviors, low salaries, ‎supervisor’s evaluation, hard work conditions, and Israeli occupation ‎procedures.
