Abstract: 

This study aimed at identifying University staff Member's Characteristics from Perspectives of Palestinian universities staff members. It also aimed at investigating the role of the study variables such as: university, sex, experience, college and the academic rank. The population of the study consisted of (1286) full- time faculty members during the academic year 2012- 2013 from An- Najah, Birzeit, Bethlehm and Hebron universities. A random sample of (450) full – time faculty members was selected, constituting (35%) of the whole population. To achieve the study aims, the researcher built a 61- item questionnaire. The validity was carried out through different academicians. Reliability was achieved by applying Crombach Alpha formula which reached (0.97) and this assures the appropriate validity. The results showed that the degree of these characteristics was high and was as the following: scientific ethnicity was (83.8%), academic proficiency was (83.2%), strong personality was (82.8%), preparation and planning was (82.4%), commitment to the university regulations was (82.2%), and modeling was (82.2%) respectively. Results also shared no significant statistical differences between responses means due to sex and college, while significant statistical differences were found due to university, experience, and the academic rank. In the light of the findings of these results, the researcher recommended considering these characteristics as a basis for evaluating a staff member either from students or from the university administration.
