Research Abstract:
The aim of this research was to present the development of teacher’s role from the ancient age to the present – the Internet age, hence, to describe the teacher’s role at distance education versus conventional one.
In brief, the teacher’s role had developed from dictating information, to explaining information, to using instructional media, to using labs and conducting experiments, to supervising independent studies, to planning instruction.
What characterizes the teacher’s role in present -- the Internet age is the adaptation of the instructional designer role which focuses on planning instruction and using technology in teaching process.  In addition, it focuses on encouraging students to get involved in the instructional process and be generative and self-regulated learners as well.
